On Monday 17th September year 1 visited St. Peter's church to learn about baptism. We baptised a doll and children were chosen to be the parents and Godparents. Do you remember what the baby doll was called?
On Wednesday 7th November Year 1 had a birthday party for the class bears, Rosie, Spencer, Florrie and Paddington. A great time was had by all and the bears behaved beautifully!
To mark the festival of Diwali we made Rangoli patterns and laid them on the floor in the corridor.

1H have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to do drama with Joe Winston from Warwick University. Here they are acting out scenes from The Mouse Bride.

On Wednesday 9th January 2008 the children in Year 1 held a toy exhibition in the atrium. They brought a favourite toy to school and wrote a label to tell everyone something about it. This was our inspiration day for our topic on toys.
On Wednesday 6th February Don and Kathryn, the toy makers, visited Year 1. They showed the children how to make their own wooden toys. Don showed the children how to use a drill safely and told them that they would need to sand their toys to make them smooth and safe. Then it was the childrens turn! The results were fantastic and all the children had a marvelous time.
The following pictures show the children hard at work.
